Inland from Falkenberg town is the most popular destination in Sweden. 4.8 million visitors come here every year and it’s no wonder. A visit to Ullared is not just shopping – it’s an experience!
Gekås Ullared is a real shoppers’ paradise where you can get everything you need for your home: clothes, electronics, toys, cosmetics, groceries, light fittings, home textiles, tools and lots more, everything at a bargain price. With its 35 000 square metres it is the largest superstore in Scandinavia.
Apart from shopping you can also enjoy a meal at the restaurant or “fika” at any of the cafés. You can get a haircut, and why not take the opportunity to bring your family to the photo studio. In the superstore there is an adventure playground where playful children can play to their heart’s content. If you have brought your dog, there is also daycare for your four-legged friend. In the area there are also other shops and restaurants.
Please, go through your wardrobe before you come to Gekås Ullared and donate your old clothes to Textilreturen, which is run by the charity Human Bridge. You find the donation point about 1.5 km from the superstore.
Stay the night
You need to stay in Ullared for at least one night to get the most out of your visit. A clever strategy is to go through your bargains in the evening, try them on and sleep on it. There are many different alternatives for accommodation. If you want to stay really close to the superstore the Gekåsbyn offers a hotel, cabins, a campsite and parking for your motorhome.
A tip is to book your accommodation in good time as Gekåsbyn’s cabins are the most booked tourist accommodation in Sweden. There are however plenty of other accommodations in the area around Ullared. Perhaps you would prefer to stay in a Bed & Breakfast or in a hostel?
Hang out and relax
After an intense day shopping it can be nice to have a dip in a wood fired hot tub or a sauna. In the campsite there are also places for barbecuing and playgrounds as well as a crazy golf course.
In the summertime you can have a swim in Musasjön, a stone’s throw from the superstore. Here is a nice sandy beach, a pier, a fixed raft and a slide. In the winter you can glide down the slalom slope.
