The brewery AB Falken was founded in Falkenberg 1896. Much has happened since then…
The company was, as mentioned, founded in 1896 and registered by the name Bryggeri AB Falken by the brewmaster John L. Skantze, who had chosen Falkenberg because there was financial backing and because of its appropriate water. The name played on the name of the town. Skantze himself ran the brewery until 1937 when he handed it over to the next generation.
Several decades and many ownerships later the competing breweries Falken, which now had become Falcon, and Pripps were both owned by the giant Danish brewery Carlsberg, that merged the two together and formed Carlsberg Sverige AB in 2001.
The brewery in Falkenberg is nowadays one of the largest and most modern breweries in Sweden and one of Falkenberg’s biggest employers.
