Inland from Falkenberg, in the forests around Ätran, you have loads of different walks to choose from. You will find a description of the loop around lake Esered here. A great 3.3 km loop for the whole family! Read on and let us tell you how to make the trip.
Park your car by Ätrans Fritidsanläggning. From here you can see the old Sjövikens Festplats dance hall – walk through the entrance and turn left. You will hear a thundering waterfall which is exactly where the lakeside loop trail starts. There are benches and BBQs next to the events area which you are very welcome to use.
The loop is 3.3 km long. The path gradually follows the edge of the lake all the way round. It is well marked with yellow/white signposts. You can also hike through the forest and up the gravel path, deeper into the forest and over a small waterfall.
Once you start getting closer to Ätran again, you will pass a lean-to that belongs to the Hallandsleden trail. Here you will find a BBQ area and a perfect spot for a rest.
Soon after this you’re back by the swimming area and car park.
Maps of other routes are available from Ätrans Fritidsanläggning and there is a larger map with an overview of all routes available at Ätrans IP. You can also hire canoes or rowing boats and go fishing in the lake if you want to extend your trip a little bit.
