Round trip- Björkasjö
The Björksjö Path is part of the Åkulla beech forest nature area where you’ll find a number of paths of different lengths to choose from. The Björkasjö Round Trip is a nice 5.5 km loop. Perfect for an autumn trip!
The path is signposted and you can get a good map of the area here: Björkasjö Path
You will be able to enjoy views across the lake almost the entire way round. You will also pass through the Älmebjär nature reserve. At each end facing the lake you will find majestic mountain slopes where the stately beech tree grows. The path is made up of forest paths, open expanses and a few country roads. Take a god pair of shoes as some parts of the route can get quite slippery.
There is a lovely new lean-to with a BBQ area and toilet situated on a piece of headland. There’s more to experience here. You will pass the Björkekullen nature reserve before you reach the car park by the swimming area. Björkekullen is an old croft cottage surrounded by natural beauty and small-scale farming.
There are loads of signs placed all around the area with information about life on the farm. You will walk past the Bråtadal cultural centre that acts as a hostel and sells ice cream in the summer. The swimming area also offers an enticing dip in the water in summer.
