Parkpromenaden (The Park Promenade)

Like an artist’s open studio, the parks are public spaces for us to enjoy floral splendour and lush greenery. Spaces to relax in, experience something new in or just enjoy. In close proximity in Falkenberg you find a number of parks of different sizes, style and location.

Among them, the large mulberry tree that bears fruit, as well as other fruit trees like quince (Cydonia), kiwi, grapes, raspberries, hazel, and Ginkgo.

Rosarium – Roses Are (Not Just) Red

The Rosarium, located in the old town near St. Laurence Church, was once Falkenberg’s first park.
In the grassy area, there is a frieze of large cobblestones that displays signs from the town’s first center – Gåsatorget. Here you will find beautiful rose arches and about 60 fragrant rose varieties, including the POM roses Lövhult and Skedarosen. The rose arches feature varieties such as Rosenholm, Valdemar, Nordland, Veilchenblau, Ilse Krohn Superior, and Wrams Gunnarstorp.

Badhusparken (Bath House Park) – Small but Charming

Falkenberg’s fine park features a lot of art and play sculptures, and a rich variety of trees, perennials, bushes, and annual plantings. The park hosts several different magnolias, including the June magnolia and the yellow-flowered tree magnolia ‘Ingemar’. The emperor tree blooms in blue during warm early summers. You’ll also find several interesting species such as the pagoda dogwood, trumpet tree, Siberian cork tree, indigo bush, tulip tree, and Chinese sequoia. Sit on café furniture and enjoy a packed lunch under an umbrella or on a blanket on the grass; it’s the perfect picnic park. The park is named after the old bathhouse located in the park.

Don’t miss: The yellow-flowered tree magnolia ‘Ingemar’ that blooms at the end of May, or the play sculptures “light algae” that glow when darkness falls.

A park created for relaxation and to contribute to biological diversity. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Ätran River as it rushes towards the sea. The park features a hornbeam labyrinth, umbrella trees with seating underneath, and a wonderful view. Species such as tulip trees and blue peas can be found here. In the spring, snake’s head fritillaries and other spring bulbs bloom in the plantings. We have also planted plants beneficial to pollinators, including butterfly bushes.

Vallarna – Here You Can Find (Almost) Everything

Falkenberg’s city park is a large park and natural area that includes both a fine park and outdoor recreation facilities. The area features a mini zoo, perhaps Sweden’s most famous open-air theater, and a large, immensely popular playground. Rhododendron and azalea plantings stretch along the Doctor’s Walk, which follows the Ätran River. The natural area is at its finest in the spring with all the bulb plantings. In the western part of the park, there is a fine park area with large summer flower beds adjacent to the cultural heritage site, Tullbron.

Don’t miss: The Doctor’s Walk when the rhododendrons are in bloom or the bulb plantings in the natural area during spring.
