Gurkbänken in Vessigebro is a beautiful park area that includes boules courts, exercise equipment, a playing field (which in winter can be turned into an ice rink), a playground, a stage, artwork and a barbecue area.
The Cucumber Bench is the result of a local collaboration between several associations and community stakeholders. The project started in a ‘sour hole’ and developed into an adventure park with nature, art and activities for all ages. The inauguration took place in September 2012, with the County Governor of Halland, Lars-Erik Lövdén, on hand to give a speech and plant an oak tree.

The project was carried out thanks to volunteer efforts and collaboration between associations, which has led to Vessigebro receiving media attention several times. Since the inauguration, the park has continued to develop, with more oaks, improved accessibility and annual events.
