This natural area is a real bird paradise. There are both temporary guests and those who stay all year round. An exciting bridge and viewing tower awaken most children’s desire to explore. Källstorp’s wetlands also teach us about animals and nature.
The valuable Källstorp wetland is a green oasis between industrial areas and the highway. The wetland is known above all for its rich bird life. Some birds visit the area temporarily to feed and rest, others hang out here all year round.
A wetland, as the name suggests, is land that is damp to wet. However, there are several trails here that you can use to get around in dry shoes. Once there, you can read about the history of the wetland and the natural values of the area.
At the eastern tower, on windless early summer evenings, you can listen to the peculiar song of the nightingale. From the shrubbery you can hear the whitethroat and blackcap, and by the water you can hear the saw-whet sparrow, marsh warbler and reed warbler. If you visit the western tower in the fall, you have the chance to see large numbers of migratory birds. In winter, the birds are much sparser. But a swan, mallard, goldeneye, wigeon or graylag goose is almost always present.
