Sjönevad is perfect for anyone who prefers lakes with a bit of a beach vibe to them. The swim spot is particularly loved by children due to the sandy beach and because the water is quite shallow until you go a bit further out. About the swim spot Sjönevadssjön has an excellent swim spot with a sandy beach and jetty. There is a barbecue area as well as restrooms in the area. You can go for a short stroll along the lake, which will take you past the inn Sjönevads Gästis and an old dance hall. Sjönevad is a calm and peaceful place, but the area livens up over the second weekend in August every year in connection with the Sjönevad market festival. If you have access to a boat, rowing out to the island in the middle of the lake makes for a fun excursion. The island holds the ruins of a castle built centuries ago in the early middle ages.

The road that takes you to the swim spot follows the long, narrow lake and is an excursion in and of itself thanks to the scenic views along the way. About the swim spot Hjärtaredssjön is beautifully situated a bit outside Ullared. The swim spot has a barbecue area, bathing jetty, restroom and rubbish bins. In the middle of the community of Ätran, you will find this fine swimming location with a dock, tables and benches as well as a place for grilling. The swimming area is just a stone's throw away from Ätrans Fritidscenter, which also has a heated outdoor pool. The Hallandsleden trail passes through here, offering great opportunities for hiking by the lake. A short distance from the swimming area at Eseredssjön lies the lake sauna. Enjoy a relaxing sauna session along with a refreshing dip in the lake. The lake sauna has its own jetty located right below the cabin. The sauna is managed by Ätrans Samhällsförening. About the swim spot A place worth spending the whole day, so be sure to bring a packed lunch! There are lovely green areas to lie in the sun and for the children to play. By the big area near the swim spot, there is space for activities as well as relaxation. With good barbecue areas and a beach volleyball net, it’s the perfect spot to unwind on a wonderful summer day in good company. The area has a bathing jetty, restroom and rubbish bins, as well as swings for the children. Ätraforsdammen provides water to the Ätrafors power plant. The Ätran river’s original furrow with waterfalls and rapids has been dammed off, and the water has instead been routed into a canal leading to the power plant. The water basin holds four million cubic metres of water and covers an area of approximately two square kilometres. You are allowed to fish freely in the whole dammed area, but fishing by the floodgates is prohibited. Find here!

After a long day of shopping at Gekås Ullared, what could be better than going for a cooling dip? Musajön and its surrounding beautiful nature is located just a stone’s throw from the department store. Bathing and play There is a fantastic swim spot by Musasjön. There is a nearby sandy beach with a bathing jetty, swimming raft and slide. Start the day with a morning swim or round off a successful day of shopping with a cooling evening dip. Goggles, swimwear and everything else you may need can be bought in the department store. Sauna and walks There is a sauna raft out on the lake which you can book via Gekåsbyn. You can also go for a scenic walk around the lake, which will take you around 20 minutes at a fast pace. There are also a handful of nice barbecue areas in the immediate vicinity.

Fegensjön is big, deep and stunningly beautiful. The best swim spot is in Linjevik, where there is a beach, dock, tables and swings. About the swim spot The swim spot has a barbecue area, bathing jetty, restroom and rubbish bins. You can walk here from the town of Fegen on the Solviken nature trail, which is around two kilometres long. A big part of Fegensjön is classified as a nature reserve, and the lake is known for its rare spring-spawning vendance fish. Pike, perch, zander (pikeperch), burbot and eel are also found here. Fegensjön is 38 metres deep at its deepest point and has a total area of 23.4 km2. Close to the middle of the southern part of the lake, the three landscapes of Halland, Småland and Västergötland meet.

In the middle of Älvsered lies a big swim spot with a tower you can jump from and a jetty called Nabben. The Björksjö Path is part of the Åkulla beech forest nature area where you’ll find a number of paths of different lengths to choose from. The Björkasjö Round Trip is a nice 5.5 km loop. Perfect for an autumn trip! The path is signposted and you can get a good map of the area here: Björkasjö Path You will be able to enjoy views across the lake almost the entire way round. You will also pass through the Älmebjär nature reserve. At each end facing the lake you will find majestic mountain slopes where the stately beech tree grows. The path is made up of forest paths, open expanses and a few country roads. Take a god pair of shoes as some parts of the route can get quite slippery. There is a lovely new lean-to with a BBQ area and toilet situated on a piece of headland.There’s more to experience here. You will pass the Björkekullen nature reserve before you reach the car park by the swimming area. Björkekullen is an old croft cottage surrounded by natural beauty and small-scale farming. There are loads of signs placed all around the area with information about life on the farm. You will walk past the Bråtadal cultural centre that acts as a hostel and sells ice cream in the summer. The Björkasjö Path is part of the Åkulla beech forest nature area where you’ll find a number of paths of different lengths to choose from. The Björkasjö Round Trip is a nice 5.5 km loop. Perfect for an autumn trip! Park your car by the swimming area. There are places for a fika or a BBQ with a BBQ hut, table and benches and even an outdoor BBQ area. This is where the marked loop around the lake starts. The red loop is 2.4 km long. The white loop is around 5 km long. The path winds through fir trees and mixed forests, and there’s also a small portion running along a country road. The lake is visible from pretty much anywhere along the red path.Good shoes are a good idea. The paths can be wet in places and there are also several log bridges to cross.There is a swimming spot next to the BBQ area with a small jetty, toilet and bins. Inland from Falkenberg, in the forests around Ätran, you have loads of different walks to choose from. You will find a description of the loop around lake Esered here. A great 3.3 km loop for the whole family! Read on and let us tell you how to make the trip. Park your car by Ätrans Fritidsanläggning. From here you can see the old Sjövikens Festplats dance hall - walk through the entrance and turn left. You will hear a thundering waterfall which is exactly where the lakeside loop trail starts. There are benches and BBQs next to the events area which you are very welcome to use. The loop is 3.3 km long. The path gradually follows the edge of the lake all the way round. It is well marked with yellow/white signposts. You can also hike through the forest and up the gravel path, deeper into the forest and over a small waterfall. Once you start getting closer to Ätran again, you will pass a lean-to that belongs to the Hallandsleden trail. Here you will find a BBQ area and a perfect spot for a rest. Soon after this you’re back by the swimming area and car park. Maps of other routes are available from Ätrans Fritidsanläggning and there is a larger map with an overview of all routes available at Ätrans IP. You can also hire canoes or rowing boats and go fishing in the lake if you want to extend your trip a little bit.

The shopping paradise of Gekås Ullared is gently nestled among the beautiful nature of Falkenberg. Just a stone’s throw away from the department store is Musasjön Lake with a lovely trail that loops around the lake. More of a stroll than a hike. But if you’re in Ullared already, then this area is definitely worth a visit. The loop is 1.4 km long and runs along a broad, well-lit gravel path with several BBQ spots. Maybe you’ll feel like hiring the floating sauna located in the middle of the lake. The perfect way to relax after a day of shopping. A large, imposing forest hugs the trail tightly. A car park and the yellow and blue department store are located opposite the lake. Quite the contrast!

Choose whether you want to glide through the lake landscape of Fegen, set up camp, and fish, or take a shorter trip on one of our peaceful, winding rivers.

You can go canoeing along the charming Högvadsån in Älvsered, only 10 km north of Ullared. You can rent a canoe or a kayak at Högvads Kanot & Fiskeäventyr. You can go fishing for free. The trip starts by the bridge in Älvsered, approximately 100 metres west of Lantmännen and ends in the southern end of Hackarpsjön. It takes about 3-4 hours to paddle back and forth at a leisurely pace without stopping. Of course, you can stop wherever you want or turn around and paddle back again. After about 20 minutes of paddling, you will arrive at Nabben with a bath and barbecue area, toilet and a beach volleyball court. A good place for a break or a picknick. You can also fish for free! There may be low water levels along the stretch, so we recommend you bring boots or similar footwear in case you have to get out of the canoe to push it through shallow water.

Fegen is a popular destination for people who enjoy canoeing. It’s a place where you go for some peacefulness and tranquillity in a breathtaking landscape. Stop by a campsite, go for a swim or fishing and be at one with nature for a while. Lake Fegen - as big as it is beautiful There is something wonderfully liberating about that moment where your canoe quietly glides free from the shore and out into the water. Some people go canoeing for days; others are satisfied with a simple day trip. The lake is big and deep and known for its rare spring-spawning vendance fish. Pike, perch, zander (pikeperch), burbot and eel are also found here. If you’re lucky, you may also spot elk and deer among the thickets, and ospreys and loons down by the water’s edge or over the lake. Approximately in the middle of the lake’s lower section, the three regions of Halland, Småland, and Västergötland meet. The entire lake is a nature reserve, and during the unique bird species' nesting period in the area, there are designated areas that must not be entered (between April 1st – July 31st). Be sure to follow the rules and signage. Campsites There are many campsites located along the beaches of Fegensjön, Kalvsjön, Ätran and Lillån where you can rest for a while. These are designated spots where you can pitch a tent and fry up anything you caught out on the lake. You need to have purchased camping coupons in order to stay the night at one of these campsites, however. You can find information about rules and camping coupons on visitfegen.se. A big part of Lake Fegen is classified as a nature reserve, so make sure you pay attention to signs by certain beaches indicating you cannot go on land there. Fegensjön provides a challenging fishing trip for anglers. The lake consists of several narrow bays, shallow creeks and great depths. With over 17 different species inhabiting the lake, you are sure to catch a variety of fish on your hook, including everything from walleye to large pikes. The peak seasons are in the spring and autumn, especially for pike, but you can go fishing all year round here. There are a number of islands and headlands in Fegensjön that are off-limits to humans, as certain birds nest there, including the osprey and black-throated diver. The ban is in effect from 1 April to 31 July, and there are signs to indicate the off-limit areas on land and water. You are not allowed to venture closer than 100 metres to the shore in these areas. The maximum speed for boats during this period is 5 knots What rules apply? Trawling and spinning are the most common methods. Along the beaches, meta and fly fishing is fine too. A fishing licence allows you to fish with hand tools, a maximum of two rods and no more than 5 pieces of fishing tackle. To protect fish stocks, you may only catch a maximum of 3 pikes between 40 - 75 cm in length.

There is a great variety of fish in Högvadsån, including salmon, trout, pike, perch and other species. Högvadsån flows into the Ätran river in Ätrafors and is the Ätran river’s biggest tributary. The Ätran river and Högvadsån have a native salmon population and together make up the most important spawning grounds for salmon on the Swedish west coast. A Beautiful Lake with Good Fishing Stock Located Only 15 Minutes by Car from Central Falkenberg. Mossjön (also called Måssjön) in Abild is situated along road 150 between Falkenberg and Torup, about 20 kilometers from Falkenberg. The lake is part of the Ätran main drainage basin and is beautifully framed by hills and trees. The lake has several nice bays and islands. The average depth is about 4.5 meters, and the maximum depth is about 20 meters. The surface area of the lake is approximately 1.7 square kilometers. Mossjön is rich in fish, and there are plenty of pike and perch, with fine specimens caught every year. There are also large populations of whitefish such as vendace and roach, which provide plenty of food for our predators. There is a small population of zander in the lake that we are very careful about. All zander must be unconditionally released.
