Take a walk round a lake

In Falkenberg, you are never far away from a quick and easy trip out into nature. No need to hire equipment. A rucksack with a few snacks and a comfy pair of shoes and you’re ready to head on out there. Taking a walk round a lake is particularly beautiful and calming. Here are our best tips!

The Björksjö Path is part of the Åkulla beech forest nature area where you’ll find a number of paths of different lengths to choose from. The Björkasjö Round Trip is a nice 5.5 km loop. Perfect for an autumn trip! The path is signposted and you can get a good map of the area here: Björkasjö Path You will be able to enjoy views across the lake almost the entire way round. You will also pass through the Älmebjär nature reserve. At each end facing the lake you will find majestic mountain slopes where the stately beech tree grows. The path is made up of forest paths, open expanses and a few country roads. Take a god pair of shoes as some parts of the route can get quite slippery. There is a lovely new lean-to with a BBQ area and toilet situated on a piece of headland.There’s more to experience here. You will pass the Björkekullen nature reserve before you reach the car park by the swimming area. Björkekullen is an old croft cottage surrounded by natural beauty and small-scale farming. There are loads of signs placed all around the area with information about life on the farm. You will walk past the Bråtadal cultural centre that acts as a hostel and sells ice cream in the summer. The Björkasjö Path is part of the Åkulla beech forest nature area where you’ll find a number of paths of different lengths to choose from. The Björkasjö Round Trip is a nice 5.5 km loop. Perfect for an autumn trip! Park your car by the swimming area. There are places for a fika or a BBQ with a BBQ hut, table and benches and even an outdoor BBQ area. This is where the marked loop around the lake starts. The red loop is 2.4 km long. The white loop is around 5 km long. The path winds through fir trees and mixed forests, and there’s also a small portion running along a country road. The lake is visible from pretty much anywhere along the red path.Good shoes are a good idea. The paths can be wet in places and there are also several log bridges to cross.There is a swimming spot next to the BBQ area with a small jetty, toilet and bins. Inland from Falkenberg, in the forests around Ätran, you have loads of different walks to choose from. You will find a description of the loop around lake Esered here. A great 3.3 km loop for the whole family! Read on and let us tell you how to make the trip. Park your car by Ätrans Fritidsanläggning. From here you can see the old Sjövikens Festplats dance hall - walk through the entrance and turn left. You will hear a thundering waterfall which is exactly where the lakeside loop trail starts. There are benches and BBQs next to the events area which you are very welcome to use. The loop is 3.3 km long. The path gradually follows the edge of the lake all the way round. It is well marked with yellow/white signposts. You can also hike through the forest and up the gravel path, deeper into the forest and over a small waterfall. Once you start getting closer to Ätran again, you will pass a lean-to that belongs to the Hallandsleden trail. Here you will find a BBQ area and a perfect spot for a rest. Soon after this you’re back by the swimming area and car park. You can also hire canoes or rowing boats and go fishing in the lake if you want to extend your trip a little bit.

The shopping paradise of Gekås Ullared is gently nestled among the beautiful nature of Falkenberg. Just a stone’s throw away from the department store is Musasjön Lake with a lovely trail that loops around the lake. More of a stroll than a hike. But if you’re in Ullared already, then this area is definitely worth a visit. The loop is 1.4 km long and runs along a broad, well-lit gravel path with several BBQ spots. Maybe you’ll feel like hiring the floating sauna located in the middle of the lake. The perfect way to relax after a day of shopping. A large, imposing forest hugs the trail tightly. A car park and the yellow and blue department store are located opposite the lake. Quite the contrast!

Hike around Knobesholmssjön

Knobesholmssjön, or Borrsjön as it is also known, is a small lake with beautiful surroundings, just outside Asige. This is a perfect excursion destination when you want to get some exercise. There is also a barbecue area with a great view. (more…)
