Ekomuseum has curated 16 different bike tours of between 13 and 35 km in the varied landscapes of the lower Ätradalen valley. Take your pick from a tour near the beach in Glommen and tours among meadows, forest and open countryside in Tjärnebygd. Kattegattleden

Kattegattleden is a national cycle route that stretches across all of Halland. The stretch in Falkenberg runs through a variety of terrain and has many scenic stops along the way. Sweden’s first national cycle route Kattegattleden is 390 kilometres long and stretches from Gothenburg to Helsingborg. The route consists of a variety of cycle paths, many of which hug the coastline and are car-free, making it very safe for cyclists to travel on them. The red and white signs marked with the number 1 show the way. Along the Falkenberg stretch, you are always close to lovely sandy beaches, beautiful nature reserves and interesting attractions all the way from Morup in the north to Steninge in the south. Pleasant stops If you get a craving for a good cup of coffee and a bite to eat, there are cafés and restaurants scattered along the route like a string of pearls. When you get tired and decide to call it a day, there are several different types of accommodation - from camping to B&B to a hotel room - to choose from. There are several spa facilities along the coastline where you can get some relief for achy joints and muscles - or simply relax after a long day of cycling. Ätranbaneleden

Ätranbaneleden is an easy bike trail that stretches between Ullared and Fegen and is suitable for the whole family. It follows the old railway embankments, and on the route you will learn more about the local area’s nature, culture and history. About the trail Ätranbaneleden is 24 km long and goes from Ullared to Fegen. It follows the old railway embankments constructed for the Varberg-Ätran and Fegen-Ätran routes. Both railways were closed down in 1961. The bike trail is clearly marked with red-and-white signs. The trail mainly consists of hard-packed gravel and is easy to travel on for cyclists. There are only a handful of hills along the way, and the trail is mostly lined by forests and marshland, but also open fields on some stretches. There are information signs posted at regular intervals along the trail. Be sure to read through them if you want to learn more about the nature, culture and history of the area. The trail i 24 km long. Local area services There are accommodation options, restaurants and cafés located close by the trail. You can find swim spots and grocery shops in Ullared, Ätran and Fegen. Pyttebaneleden

Pyttebaneleden stretches between Ullared och Älvsered and is ideal for cyclists. The path runs along an old railway embankment which occasionally hugs Högvadsån. Pyttebaneleden follows the old railway embankment between Ullared and Älvsered. Falkenberg’s railway once passed through this route (from 1896-1961) and was called Pyttebanan. The bike trail is clearly marked with red-and-white signs. The trail mainly consists of hard-packed gravel and is easy to travel on for cyclists. There are no hills along the way, and the landscape alternates between open fields and forest groves. Every now and then, the trail follows Högvadsån, a river known for being a major spawning ground for salmon and sea trout. There are information signs posted at regular intervals along the trail. Be sure to read through them if you want to learn more about the nature, culture and history of the area. The trail is 15 km long. Local area services There are accommodation options, restaurants and cafés located close by the trail. In Ullared and Älvsered, you can find swim spots and grocery shops. Are you hiking along the Kattegatt Trail and want to get even closer to the sea? Between Olofsbo and Glommen, you will find Fyrleden, the alternative trail that you can follow. Many beautiful stops await you, and it is well worth a visit. You might already know about the Kattegatt Trail it runs from Helsingborg in the south to Gothenburg in the north. This is a sea-side trail, but at certain locations you can get even closer to the sea. In order not to miss several beautiful locations in the areas around Glommen, an alternative route to the Kattegatt Trail has been made, called Fyrleden. If you would like to go bicycling on a shorter tour, Fyrleden is a pleasant trip itself extending 8.5 km. The signs have the same design as the Kattegatt Trail signs (red and white) and are easy to follow. What You Encounter on the Way Along the way there are several accommodations and cafés available, as well as restaurants. Take a look under the Olofsbo and Glommen links above. Ätradalsleden

Travel on bike through open landscapes, forests that stretch into the horizon and beautiful lakes. Ätradalsleden snakes through Falkenberg and Falköping and is 199 kilometres long in total, of which 146 km are entirely car-free. The remaining stretches follow country roads that pass through beautiful nature and interesting stops. Start and finish Ätradalsleden stretches from Falköping in the north to Falkenberg in the south, where it joins up with Kattegattleden. You decide yourself which stretch you want to cover on bike and where you want to start your journey. Some recommended starting points are Falköping, Ulricehamn, Tranemo, Svenljunga, Fegen and Falkenberg. If you want to bike from Falkenberg to Fegen, it is a 53 km stretch. Standard The trail can be divided into four stages consisting of a total of 199 km. The northern part of the trail runs exclusively on the old railway embankment between Falköping and Ambjörnarp. This stretch has been free of trains for many years now, and the old embankment has since been turned into a flat paved bike path. The stretch between Ambjörnarp and Falkenberg goes through small low-traffic rural roads, mostly on asphalt, but also hard-packed gravel in some parts. Some parts here also run along old railway embankments. Accommodation and attractions along the way On your way, you will be able to experience the area’s scenic nature, culture, great food and interesting places to visit. There is also a variety of accommodation options for you to choose from, such as living on an operational far, a lakeside cabin or in the middle of town.
